Markets and temples

Patteeswaram, Tamil Nadu

Just before you enter any temple in India, you have to pass through a market. In some cases, shopping happens right inside the temple complex. Very often I find the markets more interesting.

Very nice! Thanks Laxmi for sharing.. somehow, I have missed to capture the most obvious things from my (our) country. One suggestion, next time, take a pic of the huge kumkum hills those sit outside temples...

Hi Lakshmi!

Nice post. I love temple markets. Usually I buy some prasad there and eat it all by myself. Then atleast I can come home and tell grandma that I got 'prasad from the temple'! LOL

Unseen Minds - yea..the chaos is not always tempting to stand round and take a pic..will do..

Jen - Have you tried them..the prasad as we call it..as its supposed to be blessed by the Gods

priyank - You sound exactly like Sharath. He goes to temples only to eat prasad

Arun - To garland the goddess

Have hurried by these displays so many times ... it's good to take the time to enjoy them. Maybe next time.

The first shot is too good.

Yes, there is line of small shops on the both side of the lane to the temple. One can find items which are of interest to all the ages.

Nice pictures, had never thought of clicking one earlier.
